The English language is notoriously complex and contradictory. Its irregular verbs and tricky grammar constructions often baffle even native speakers, let alone those for whom English is a second, third or fourth language. Add to that considerations of style and readership and you have a potential minefield!
For sixteen years, both as a journalism student and in my professional life, I’ve been honing my ability to communicate in writing with different audiences. So whether you’re a business, an author, a publisher or a student, I can help to improve your writing and make your work shine.
How I work
I work in Word, on PDFs, on hard copies or directly in InDesign. In Word I use ‘track changes’ so you can easily identify the changes I’ve made. I’ll also make comments where necessary to explain why certain changes have been made or to raise queries. You can then review all the changes and choose whether to accept or reject my suggestions. For PDFs I use the editing tools and comments functions to mark up your document. I can also use InDesign to make the changes directly if you prefer. I use standard BSI proofreading symbols on hard copies where appropriate.
