The English language is notoriously complex and contradictory. Its irregular spelling and tricky grammar can trip up even native speakers, let alone those for whom English is a second, third or fourth language. Add to that considerations of style and readership and you have a potential minefield!
My journalism training taught me how to communicate in writing with different audiences, and I’ve been putting those skills into practice for almost 20 years now. So whether you’re a business, an author, a publisher or a student, I can help to improve your writing and let your voice shine through.
How I work
I work in Word, on PDFs, on hard copies or directly in InDesign. In Word I use Track Changes so you can easily identify the corrections I’ve made. I’ll also make comments where necessary to explain why certain changes have been made or to raise queries. You can then review all the changes and choose whether to accept or reject my suggestions. For PDFs I use the commenting tools to mark up your document. I can also use InDesign to make the changes directly if you prefer. I use standard BSI proofreading symbols on hard copies or PDFs where appropriate.
