About me

From journalism and marketing to freelance editing

I have 20 years of editorial experience in proofreading, editing, copywriting and journalism. Before going freelance in 2014, I worked as a BBC journalist and later in editorial roles for a producing theatre and a Swiss engineering firm. Now as well as running my own thriving editorial business, I train other aspiring proofreaders and copyeditors as a CIEP tutor.

Although I’m a proud Lancastrian, I enthusiastically crossed the Pennines to complete my degree, graduating with a BA in broadcast journalism from the University of Leeds. I’ve settled back in the North West, near Manchester, but work with organisations all over the world.

How I can help you

For over 10 years I’ve been working in a freelance capacity with clients such as publishers, private companies, museums, galleries and other non-profits, education providers, marketing agencies and public sector organisations.

I trained in editing and proofreading with the Publishing Training Centre and the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, now known as the CIEP. I’ve also got years of in-house experience in marketing departments, so I’m familiar with their workflows and demands.

As an experienced freelancer, I understand the importance of managing projects efficiently as an independent member of the team. My commitment to reliability ensures timely delivery, allowing you to focus on your goals without worrying about deadlines or quality.
